Miscellaneous papers of John Cook Wyllie [manuscript], 1938-1947.

The collection contains a handwritten draft of Wyllie's annual report for 1938. He notes "philandering without title in French provinces and seeking whom I might devour in the Low Countries," and "the study and practice of the art of bookbinding." There are two rough sketches of a binding for Edward L. Stone on a verso of one page.. The collection also includes a 1947 memo regarding duplicates and commenting on the "present bankruptcy of the library" with a response by Roy Land; a mysterious telegram, 1941, from an Arthur Rubinstein about working for the Treasury Dept. that was probably sent to Wyllie by mistake; and an invitation from Joe Jenkins to male staff members to attend a retirement party for Francis Gay. The collection also contains correspondence among Dumas Malone, John Cook Wyllie and Ray Harned regarding the latter's request for copies of material in the E.A. Alderman collection.
